Getting Started
What does Setlist Builder do?
Setlist Builder analyzes recent live setlists for any artist on setlist.fm, ranks the most-played songs, and lets you create a playlist of those songs in Apple Music or YouTube Music. Pick an artist, choose a date range, and tap a service — the app handles the rest.
Which music services does it work with?
- Apple Music — Requires an active Apple Music subscription.
- YouTube Music — Works with both Free and Premium accounts.
Using a different service? See below — you can still copy the song list and create the playlist manually.
YouTube Music
Why does YouTube Music say my account can't create a playlist?
This usually means one of two things:
- You don't have a YouTube channel yet. A YouTube channel is required to create playlists, even on Free accounts. Sign in to youtube.com in a browser, tap your profile picture, and choose "Create a channel." Then try again in the app.
- Your account is family-managed. If your Google account is supervised through Family Link, and you are under 13 years old, this service will not work. If you are over 13 years old and use a supervised account, you will need to upgrade your account via Google. It can still be managed, but the account used will need to be upgraded to a teen account in order to function. Also, do not forget the above YouTube channel creation requirement.
Do I need YouTube Music Premium?
No. The app works with both YouTube Music Free and YouTube Music Premium. Premium gives you ad-free playback and offline downloads, but the playlist-creation feature itself works for either tier.
Apple Music
Do I need an Apple Music subscription?
Yes — an active Apple Music subscription is required to create playlists in Apple Music. The app uses Apple's MusicKit framework, which only works with subscribers.
Why are some songs missing from my Apple Music playlist?
The app only adds songs that Apple Music can stream. Sometimes a track exists in the catalog but isn't available for streaming in your region, or it's only on a compilation that isn't streamable. Those songs are skipped, and you'll see them listed as "failed" in the success summary.
Live Versions
What does "Prioritize Live Versions" do?
When the toggle is on, the app searches for live recordings of each song before falling back to studio versions. Live tracks that match the artist and song name are picked first; if no live recording is found in your music service's catalog, the studio version is used instead.
Why are some songs still studio recordings even with the toggle on?
The toggle is a best-effort search, not a guarantee. Reasons a studio version may still appear:
- The artist hasn't released an official live version of that song on the streaming service.
- The live recording exists but isn't streamable in your region.
- The live track's title doesn't include the song name (some live albums use track names like "Track 4 (Live at Wembley)").
General
How accurate are the song rankings?
The rankings are based on how often each song appears in the artist's setlists on setlist.fm during your selected date range. They're a reasonable proxy for "what does this artist play live most often," but they depend on fan-submitted setlists — small artists or recent shows may have less data.
How is my data handled?
Setlist Builder doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data to LH Vantage servers. Auth tokens for music services are stored locally in your iPhone's Keychain. Recent searches are saved on-device only. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
Can I use Setlist Builder with Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, or another service?
Direct playlist creation is currently only supported on Apple Music and YouTube Music — but you can still get most of the way there with any service.
From the results screen, tap Copy Song List or Share Song List to grab the full ranked list of songs. Open your music app of choice, paste each song into search, and add it to a new playlist. The hardest part — figuring out which songs the artist actually plays live — is already done for you.
